I think of myself as intuitive therapeutic artist.I find my work very healing on personal level. It allows me to slow down, pay attention and connect with another human being. To think that I use my own body-weight to help someones else discomfort is pretty fascinating to me.
I am a big believer in receiving bodywork as a way to connect with your body and emotions. Through this awareness we can manifest positive shifts in the body like relaxation, healing and sense of well being. It’s in those states that insights abide, creativity soars and we’re in peace with whatever is happening.
My journey into healing arts started in my late teens. At that time I began to be interested in meditation and self-development which led me to attend few interesting events and workshops. One of my first interactions with hands on work was winning a local radio contest and receiving training in Reiki. From then on and through my high school years I knew I wanted to work with people on some level but with such broad interest I really felt clueless as what to do. After my high school graduation I decided to move to Toronto and go with the flow and see where it takes me. Initially I pursued Buddhist Studies. That eventually led to psychotherapy program. Since dance was my passion as well I thought to eventually specialize in art/dance therapy. It was this program that exposed me to bodywork and that’s when I realized I want to work with the body and movement. After 6 months I dropped the program to pursue shiatsu and eventually massage therapy. I’ve been immersed in bodywork since then, deepening my understanding of the body through full time practice, workshops, books and of course receiving massage on regular basis.
You will benefit & enjoy my treatments if you:
- like integrated, balanced approach with variety in pressure and techniques
- appreciate meditative approach to bodywork
- are patient with getting better and understand progressive approach to treatment to facilitate physical change
- look for a way to connect with your body & increase body awareness
Personally I love working progressively, non aggressively with the body. This way changes are less drastic, long lasting and welcomed by the body as a source of relief.
An Honors Graduate of The Canadian Therapeutic College and The Shiatsu School of Canada, Martyna has been practicing manual therapy since 2007.
Her training includes the most extensive Shiatsu therapy program outside of Japan (2200 hrs). Blending traditional and modern techniques, Martyna uses integrated approach by adapting each session to your body’s needs. Blending art, science & meditative approach makes each session a dynamic, unique and integrated experience. Each session is a blend of various techniques and variety in pressure so positive physiological response can be achieved. She’s not a fan of adhering to one style as body’s needs change and to address that flexibility and comfort in working with various tools is essential. She also does not distinguish between relaxation and therapeutic massage in a sense that every session is therapeutic and each one needs element of relaxation for tissues to heal and regenerate.
Martyna is a registered member of the College of Massage Therapists Association (CMTO) and Registered Massage Association of Ontario (RMTAO).
Certified Member of Shiatsu Therapy Association of Ontario (STAO).
